The Arthur E. Coia Scholarship & Education Fund
The Arthur E. Coia Scholarship & Education Fund provides financial aid to full-time, matriculating students attending accredited institutions including colleges, universities, and technical schools.
The award currently provides $5,000 per year, with a potential total of $20,000 over four years of study. This scholarship is renewable annually, provided the recipient continues to meet the academic criteria established by the Scholarship Committee.
Eligibility Requirements:
This scholarship is exclusively available to New England Laborers, their spouses, and their children. Note: grandchildren, nieces, and nephews of New England Laborers are not eligible.
To qualify, the Union member must be in good standing with an affiliated Local Union of the Laborers’ International Union of North America (LIUNA) within the New England region. Eligible states include: Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont.
Evaluation Process:
The Scholarship Committee reviews all applications thoroughly. Selection is based on a comprehensive evaluation of:
-Scholastic merit and academic achievement
-Demonstrated financial need
-Extracurricular involvement and accomplishment
-The quality of the submitted essays
The 2027 Application Due Date Is May 1, 2027.
All applicants will be informed of the scholarship awards in July.
